This morning, I walked to the coffee shop in the grocery store, then stopped back by my apartment to get my rain coat before work. I walked about seven minutes to work in a light drizzle.
There were sidewalks, greenery, people, and light traffic. The hum of the city and a brisk pace got my blood flowing and woke me up for the day.
This is why I love walkable areas. I didn’t have to get up and get ready just to sit in traffic before paying to park and then sitting again all day.
I started my day with a walk, I’ll walk on my lunch break, and I’ll end my day with a walk.
I might even take another to pick up some dinner tonight. And I’ll feel great the whole time, knowing I’m taking steps to health and keeping one less car on the road.
